The Mary Kay opportunity made its way into my life in May 2017.  I was at a crossroad in my life.  At the time, I was working as a Development Director for a non-profit and loved it but still felt like I was called to do more.
I am a college graduate and have worked in upper management the past 15 years and the last 10 in non-profit.  I have always enjoyed my job, however, I knew something was missing. I felt like I was not living or even reaching my full potential.  It took a near death experience for me to realize I needed to be open to what God had in store for me.
In May 2012, I was driving in the rain in the mountains of Virginia when I hydroplaned and hit a tree.  Thank God no one else was involved!  The dashboard collapsed and crushed my legs,  broken collarbone, broken ribs and a punctured lung and I knew I was blessed to be alive!  It took a couple of years to fully recover but Praise the Lord, you wouldn’t even know I had been in an accident except for the scars.
Fast forward to 2017, here enters Mary Kay, through a co-worker that had invited me to a facial.  I had used the products years ago and knew it was a great product line but the consultant who sold it to me never followed up with me so I began using other stuff.  When I went to the beauty experience, I heard about Mary Kay, the business opportunity peaked my interest.  I thought if I could make a few hundred dollars extra a month that would be great!  The freedom, flexibility and being able to advance at my own pace appealed to me.  My job required a lot of my time and we have a big family who always has activities planned. In addition, I volunteered in the community and was involved in my church so I needed something that would let me choose when I could work.   I loved that success in this business is measured by a woman’s own ambitions and goals (I have a good work ethic and love to win).
The doubts and fears were there, afterall, I didn’t know a thing about make-up application so how would I be able to help someone choose what would look good on them?  I was good at accepting donations for my charities but I was not a salesperson.  However, I’ve never been one to shy away from an opportunity to make extra money and this one even looked fun so I was willing to give it a try!
I’m going on three years with this amazing company and I can’t imagine doing anything else, I LOVE IT!  I enjoy the independence I now have, being able to do business from anywhere.  I was able to fulfill customer orders while in Australia for 3 weeks and when one of our parents required medical attention and we needed to be there I didn’t have to request immediate time off.   I’ve earned jewelry, prizes and a cruise (all expenses paid, including airfare) just while working this business part time.  Shortly after going full time I became a Director and earned a car!  I will never make another car payment!  Anything you desire can be achieved with this opportunity.  There’s no limit.  What do you desire?
This business has impacted my life far more than just money, recognition, and prizes.  The friendships I’ve made are irreplaceable.  I have grown more personally and professionally in the past two years than I have in my entire career.  I am more confident and self-aware and I’ve been able to benefit by seeing other members of our unit experience the same growth. That is the best part!
This opportunity is a blessing to everyone who gives it a try.  Our future is bright and I am looking forward to our unit growth and the journey the Lord has in store for us.  I have embraced the Mary Kay mission to enrich every woman’s life in some way.  This business truly is not about selling lipstick but it is a vehicle to allow you to design the life you want, on your own terms.  I am so passionate about sharing the love and paying it forward the way Mary Kay Ashe asked us to.
